Do you like neutral ornaments? In this post, I will show you how to make a simple and easy boho Christmas ornament all from the Dollar Tree.
I know it’s still October and it’s WAY too early to think about Christmas ornaments. I got you! But you did notice all the stores had their Christmas decorations out already, didn’t you?
It’s only 10 weeks away! The older I get the faster time flies!
Hubby and I are habitually early for things. I remember years ago Hubby and I were returning to the U.S. My family was sending us off after we visited them in the Philippines. They hugged us, kissed us, and cried and cried as we moved through the gates.
They were surprised when we returned minutes later. Turns out we were a day early for our flight!
I went to a new Dollar Tree and I was surprised to find it had a well-supplied craft area. I am currently obsessed with wood and natural decor so I was so thrilled to find the had wooden craft supplies. I stood there for an hour brainstorming what DIY ornaments I’d make. I love a creative challenge.
I wanted something minimalistic. I imagined a boho tassel ornament. It’s affordable and easy to make.
Supplies
- Wood dowel
- Twine
- Wooden Beads
- Glue gun
- Yarn
- Scissors
Direction
Cut the dowel into 4 inch sections. I used my gardening shears but I wouldn’t recommend it. It chips the bottoms. If only I had a fined-toothed handsaw or pipe cutter. Hopefully you do!
Cut 5 to 6 inches of twine and glue it on both sides of the dowel.
To make the tassel start with a piece of cardboard cut to 4 inches length. I used this wooden plank. Same idea. It serves as a guide.
Wrap the yarn around it around 10 or so times, as desired.
Slide the yarn over and cut the ends.
Tie the top with yarn about 4 times.
Take 3 beads and put it through the yarn. You can add more beads but I like odd numbers.
Take the yarn with wooden beads and put it through the tassel hole. Tie the yarn on the top of the tassel.
Glue the yarn to the dowel.
That’s it. I love how easy to make it is—and super cute.
Here’s another photo.
I hope you enjoy this Dollar Tree DIY boho Christmas ornament.
