This post is all about how to clean the sticky grease buildup on your stainless steel microwave above the stove and range hood. I will share with you the best degreaser product I’ve used to remove and dissolve tough greasy stains off your stainless steel appliances.
Do you have grease build-up on your vent hood or microwave above the stove? I know I have. It’s something I neglected and avoided tackling because I hate cleaning tough grease stains.
I have been cleaning and organizing the house lately. I finally decided to figure out what product to use to remove the sticky grease stains on my stainless steel range hood. For years, I’ve tried to clean it with dish soap mixed with water but it did not remove the grease.
I hated the feel of sticky grease on my range hood and the grease make it look dull. I was so frustrated that I even used a magic eraser. I would not recommend using it because it scratched the surface of my range hood. Oops!
After watching Youtube videos, I finally ordered a degreaser product on Amazon. So today, I am going to show you how to clean and get rid of grease in the kitchen.

Supplies You’ll Need:
- Krud Kutter
- Sponge or cleaning brush
- Clean Rag
- Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish
- Gloves (optional)
How To Clean Grease Over The Stove Microwave or Range Hood:
Gather all your supplies. Some people wear gloves but I honestly did not wear one. Krud Kutter Kitchen Degreaser is odorless and non-toxic. It is safe to use for people and pets.
Spray on the desired surface and scrub with a sponge or cleaning brush. For tougher grease stains, wait for 1-2 minutes before wiping off the surface. Our range hood has years of sticky grease buildup that it took me a lot of elbow grease (no pun intended) to remove the oil stains. You can skip going to the gym after cleaning because you’ll have sore arms afterward 🙂
I used an old sponge to scrub the grease. As I’ve mentioned earlier, Do not use a magic eraser to clean your stainless steel appliances. Magic eraser is not recommended for shiny or stainless steel appliances or surfaces because it can scratch the gloss or polish off.
Wipe off the surface with a clean damp rag. If you have a stainless steel microwave or range hood, I recommend finishing it off with stainless steel cleaner. I love Weiman stainless steel cleaner because it really makes your stainless steel appliances look new. All you do is spray it on the product and wipe it off with a clean cloth.
I could not believe how shiny our range hood looks! It looks like new and it feels so smooth. No more sticky residue!
Krud Kutter also works for grills, walls, floors, stovetops, cabinets, countertops, and more. I highly recommend this product because it’s so versatile. This is a must-have cleaning product for any household.
I hope this post was helpful and that you learned the best degreaser to use for removing tough grease stains in your kitchen.
