Modern Boho Living Room

Modern Boho Living Room

This year I put away my Christmas decor the day after Christmas. Don’t get me wrong: I love Christmas trimmings; however, I’d been itching to get back to a clutter-free living room.

I am not a minimalist but to me less is more.

Less stuff is more space.

This year I decorated my home with neutrals and subtle colors. I love the boho pouf that hubby got me for my birthday. I love the modern-boho style: woven pillows with tassels, woven baskets, metallic and wood accents, and lots of greenery.

My family is laid-back. So you see, modern-boho reflects who I am. In the summer I wear a lot of boho tops and dresses. My love for boho started when I was young only back then I didn’t have a name for it.

I wanted to buy a bohemian-style pillow that I saw for $20 — too much! Instead, I found this 4-pack pillow case on Amazon for $14. It comes in 4 different patterns and it’s machine-washable to boot! Love it. It has zippers so you can use any pillows. This is a must for moms with kids that regularly spill drinks and wipe off dirty fingers. Ha ha.

What I lacked was a midcentury-modern plant stand. I considered making one last year but it seemed difficult. The idea stuck with me and I knew it would complement my decor so I decided make a go of it.

I got the materials for 2 stands at Home Depot for about $30. I asked hubby to drill and assemble the legs. Oh boy, it wasn’t easy. It pays to have the right tools and the handyman gene, neither of which hubby has. So he did get it together but the legs are wobbly. Still, I love the look.

Hubby said for the time and energy I could have just bought one for a few extra dollars, but I’m stubborn and always try to save a buck.

Ultimately, I stained it and put it in our dining room. My fingers are crossed that I won’t come home one day to a broken pot and dirt on the floor. LOL.

Are you planning to do any projects this year? I’d love to hear from you.
