Do you need ideas for decorating your porch this summer? Read on and I’ll show you how I decorate and get my outdoor patio ready for summer!
I’ve been enjoying summer so far. I love to be able to sit on the porch in the morning and during nighttime when it’s cool and less humid. Summer has been so busy for me since the kids are home. My youngest daughter has summer school 3 days a week.
I bought a bigger inflatable pool for the kids this year. It’s been nice to be able to cool off when the weather is so hot. The girls love it. We are planning on getting a deep pool soon. I am looking forward to inviting my friends and family over for swimming.
Our sectional is finally here. Yay! We were using our patio furniture as a couch for the past 6 months. I was so glad that we are able to finally move it to the back porch.
We have had this patio furniture for 9 years now and it’s been holding up well. However, the cushions show some wear and tear. I was able to save money by replacing the cushion covers instead of buying all new cushions. Read my post HERE.
Neutrals have been a big trend in the decor world lately and I’m loving it. I love the simplicity and serene look of a neutral space. So this year, I want to give my outdoor decor a refresh. I want to do a black and white outdoor decor theme with coastal accents.

I got a new area rug and replaced the old one because it gets wet and dirty quickly. I love my polypropylene rug on the front porch. I got a new black and white stripe rug from Hobby Lobby but currently out of stock. Amazon has a similar area rug HERE. It is so easy to clean. I use a broom to sweep the dirt and wipe it off with a damp rag.
I added wicker accessories like a basket, tray, and pillow to bring in the coastal vibe.
I like to add greenery as well. This pilea and snake plant are indoor plants but I take it out in the summer and bring it back inside in the fall. One of my favorite tropical plants is Canna Lily. We live in North East. I have to dig it up in the winter and keep it in the basement and plant it again in the spring. I love how they add a tropical feel to our porch.
Our back porch is not very big but I was able to create different zones. We have a dining area, a sitting area, and a chaise to lay down or take naps.
I found these cute rope placemat from Hobby Lobby, similar HERE. I got these faux hydrangeas at the thrift store. Don’t they look real? I have hydrangeas but they are not very big yet. I can’t wait until I can have fresh-cut hydrangeas in the summer.
Any outdoor space would not be complete without lighting. We installed outdoor string lights to create an ambiance in the evening.
I hope this post inspires you to decorate your porch or patio and spend more time outdoors this summer. Talk to you soon!
