In this post, I am sharing storage and organization ideas for your home.
Hi, friends. Have you started organizing and purging stuff yet? I just heard the other day that Goodwill will be closing their donation centers for a couple days because they’ve been overwhelmed with donation. Wow. Coop people up for months on end and they start to realized just how much stuff they have.
We’ve been gradually purging our stuff too. Organizing is right down there with scrubbing shower floors. It makes me anxious. After a couple hours. of rooting through my kids old toys I felt sick. I must have OCD 🙂
I dread organizing toys boxes. It’s always a mixed-up mess of odds and ends. It’s partly my fault because I avoid it. Hubby, on the other hand, is always actively purging things. He says a day of getting rid of stuff is his Christmas morning. He’s a minimalist.
I envy people with well-organized homes. When I do organize, it doesn’t seem to last. If you have kids, you know what I mean. It’s constant and draining to see hours of work returned to disarray by the next day.
This year I’m planing to get more organized. Step one is to truly assess what you have and whether you need it. Touch it. Does it spark joy? (Forgive me for channeling Konmari.) Ruthlessly let go of what you don’t really need. Then, for all that remains, here are some trendy organizational accessories.

Collapsible storage is my favorite for kid’s toys and books. Isn’t it cute? There are many patterns perfect for playrooms and bedrooms. I’ve used this kind of thing for years. It helps keeps toys and clutter off the floors and tidies up their rooms.
Storing stuff in proximity to where it’s used is often impractical. There’s not always a closet, trunk or chest of drawers nearby. That’s what’s great about convenience storage. It puts things near where they’re needed. The key, of course, is they must be attractive. This woven cotton rope basket is all that. It’s a good container for blankets, toys, or shoes. It’s simple, foldable, and fits in tight spaces, like closets.
Aesthetically-pleasing storage, especially in open areas, is a must. Woven baskets go a long way in making your home look attractive to guests. They add texture and warmth to shelves and other open spaces, and I see lots of designers using them. This one is collapsible. Nice! I use this in the bath room. It’s one of my top accessories because they’re practical, attractive, and space warming.
Compartmental organizers are great for so many things—jewelry, make-up, hair accessories, school supplies, etc. I love how you can customize it to fit any layout you like. This one comes in 3 colors: clear, brown, or gray. I use this kind of storage for my make up.
A hanging purse/handbag organizer is ideal for anyone who, like me, has an obsession with them. Handbags are my main splurge. They’re an accessory I use all the time. Hubby likes to say, “spend more on the things you use most often.” I have 15 or so purses right now and that’s after a collection downsizing. I need this because I don’t have a big closet. It makes the most of the space you have while protecting your babies.
So if you’re organizing your handbags, how much more will you need a way to keep your shoe collection in good order? Hubby got me a hanging shoe organizer to help make the most of our limited closet space. I like how it fits into any closet and no hardware or tools are needed. This worked great for me.
Trays are one of my favorite ways to define a space in the living room. I use them to corral candles, remotes, flower vases and other accessories. I’ve use them in the kitchen and bathroom too. As always, choose storage that is functional but also stylish. Your space is what you feel when you’re in it and just like a great pair of shoes makes you feel good, so does a living space that’s minded its aesthetics.
I recently pushed to organize my kitchen drawers. I love bamboo. It has an amazing texture and is an amazing material. This bamboo organizer improved the order of my kitchen gadgets. I have a bamboo drying rack too.
Convenience is king. I started using a ceramic utensil holder years ago and I’m so glad I did. My go-to spoons and spatulas are a reach away, no hunt involved. This may surprise you but many of my accessories are bamboo or wood. This one can double as a flower vase. Multi-purpose things promote minimalism.
Every kitchen needs a pretty canister set. Canisters are great for storing sugar, coffee, flour and many more. White and wood combination is not only trendy but it’s also has a clean and elegant look. This style will look great in any kitchen.
Nothing in our home is so reliably used on a daily (even hourly) basis as our bamboo charging station. Ours is a connected family. This station keeps our gadgets organized around a single hub. Every phone and tablet has its spot. And it does a good job of tucking all the unsightly cables out of sight. This one is chic and elegant. Did I mention the bamboo? Yes, it’s bamboo too. I think my great, great, great grandmother, mom’s side—was a panda.
I hope this inspire you to start organizing your home. Happy organizing!
