It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in our house.
I grew up in the Philippines where we start decorating for Christmas in September. Crazy, right? In the Philippines, Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year.
I miss our traditions. We stay up until midnight to set off or watch firecrackers and fireworks. Nobody sleeps before then because it is so noisy you can’t!
Christmas is my favorite season for decorating. I told hubby that if I could have the Christmas tree up all year round, I would. That’s why I’m eager to get my decorations up. It’s a lot of work and like to enjoy the results for as long as I can.

I decided to get a flocked tree this year and I am loving it! It reminds me of a winter wonderland. It’s like waking up bright and early and seeing the trees covered in new fallen snow. I also like how the red pops against the brilliant white of a flocked tree.
My color scheme this year is red, gold and blush. I started with gold and blush and decided it needed the pop of red that goes hand-in-hand with Christmastime. I purchased the tree from Walmart but they are currently sold out but Amazon carries it as well.
Everything you see on the mantel except for the sign — which I made myself — is a thrift store purchase. I bought most of the ornaments from Dollar Tree, Goodwill and Walmart. A great time to shop for ornaments, as many of you know, is the day after Christmas when everything is at least half off. Michaels offers a whopping 70%-80% off on decor.
My friend got me a faux fur tree skirt for my birthday as a gift. I love how it ties in with my winter wonderland theme. Similar here.
I am still in the process of decorating the rest of the house. I like to do it gradually to avoid overwhelming myself. I’ll do a Christmas Home Tour in a couple weeks when I’m finished.
When do you start decorating for Christmas?

I love ALL your decorations! I’m glad we aren’t the only ones already decorated for Christmas! It is one of my favorite times of the year! It brings back so many memories of simpler times as a kid. We would meet at my grandparent’s home and all 20-30 of us would help them decorate their house! (I don’t know how Grandma could handle it! HaHa) It’s such a magical time of year!!!! <3
Thank you very much! It’s my favorite time of year as well. wow. That’s a lot of help. LOL. But that sounds fun! My daughter would try to help decorating but I’m always afraid that she will break something,Haha. I’d love to see your Christmas decorations. Is it on your website?

That is awesome, Cassie. I love to decorate for Christmas but it takes a lot of work. I always decorate early in November so I can enjoy it for a while. Filipinos love Christmas. I’ve been playing Christmas music here at home too. Thank you for your comment. I appreciate it ๐
Hi, It’s beautiful. I really love Christmas also. I always decorate the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It really is the most wonderful time of the year. I can’t wait to see the rest of your house when you get it done.
Thank you, Cheryl. I decorate in phases because being a mom of 2 under 6, I don’t have much time ๐ I’m hoping that I can finish decorating by next week. How about you? Did you start decorating yet?
This is beautiful. I really love the sign! If you ever make that in a printable please let me know.

So beautiful, and simple. You have a great style and eye for design. I love this theme and may use it as inspiration for my tree this year.
Aw. Thank you very much, Janet. My original plan was to do a blush and gold theme. But I couldn’t resist and decided to add some red ornaments. I just love how festive it looks.
