7½ Gift Ideas for Christmas 2018

Black Friday is upon us and I’m sure many of you are planning to snag a few deals. Hubby doesn’t like to shop, so I do most of our Christmas shopping online.  Amazon is my favorite online store and it has a ton of Black Friday deals. If you are interested in any of these products the Black Friday window is one of the best.

Amazon Fire HD 8″ Kids Edition Tablet

My daughter loves her Amazon Fire tablet. If you have a kid that’s rough on devices (as mine are), then this is one of the few extended warranties worth considering.

My husband skipped on the warranty — he’ll be the first to tell you most extended warranties are a scam — and regretted it.  Our daughter’s tablet lasted 6 months until it stopped taking a charge.

With the kid’s edition you pay the premium but then you’re covered for the replacements.  Of course, it depends on your child.  Yours may be more responsible than mine.

Roaster Oven

If you have don’t have a big oven like me, then this is a must. I use this often when entertaining and I need to cook 2 or more things at once.  Hubby tried to avoid this purchase before he agreed that we could classify it as an actual need.

Charging Station Rack for Devices

A charging station is a good way to organize those annoying wires and have a place to charge devices all at the same time. We have a few devices in our home and the drawer of my night stand hangs open to charge our family’s devices.

I feel a little guilty about doing it, but I let our kids grab a device in the morning in order to steal a few extra minutes of much needed sleep.  Trust me, once they start making demands, it’s an all-day affair that allows for little rest.

My husband said he couldn’t really think of anything he wanted for his birthday, so he set out to solve the problem of our nightstand drawers: they’re a rat’s nest of wires and chargers.  He suggest that a more proper charging station might help.

Of course, some racks require a separate charger.

Pouf

I had a recent birthday and one of the gifts on my list was a pouf.  We use it as extra seating and a foot rest.  The kids regularly lean on or prop their heads up against it while watching TV.

I did not anticipate that we’d use it as frequently as we do.

I’m partial to the boho-chic look.

Hand Knit Beanie

How cute are beanie pom-poms. This is one of my favorite wintertime accessories and they make a great, inexpensive Christmas gift.

Tall Fashion Boots

l am all about comfort. I have boots like this and after 8 years the soles are wearing thin.

Ugg has terrific reviews but some of their boots are pricey.  I ordered a youth-sized pair (fits me!) for 30% off the adult prices. I can’t wait to try them on. Update: I just received these boots yesterday and I love it so much. They are so cute and the comfiest boots I ever owned.

Assorted Chocolate Bars

Candy is big in our household.  That’s not good, I know.

Our younger daughter could care less about candy.  The only candy she eats is M&Ms.  Our older daughter is candy obsessed.  Every dinner is preceded by a negotiation regarding how many more bites need to be eaten to earn the treat.

Hubby fights her on this esp. when she tries the same tactic during breakfast and lunch.  He has drawn a line in that only dinner permits treats.

One of his favorite candies is dark chocolate, the kind that has what he calls “junk” inside.  He likes the dark chocolate with bits of orange peel.  We all do.  If you’ve never tried it, I can be honest with you: it’s reeeeally good.

Consumables, like chocolate, are always an excellent choice for those friends and family members who are hard to buy for.

Anyway, that’s my list.

Happy Black Friday shopping!  I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving.
