Holidays are over and it’s finally time to organize and purge or donate unwanted stuff. When I was young, my mom likes to collect knick-knacks. There were stuffed animals and little figurines in our China cabinet (by the way, we don’t call them China cabinet). She also has a ton of Tupperware products that we rarely used and just collect dust. LOL.
She never gets rid of stuff other than giving our used clothes to our relatives. When I moved to America, I was surprised at how many people has too much stuff. When I go to the Thrift stores right around springtime, the shelves are full of items from donations.
I am married to a minimalist, which is the opposite of how I was raised. I now appreciate a less cluttered home. Although, I love to shop when there’s a clearance sale. I learn to get rid of the stuff that I don’t need or use. Hubby says, if you don’t use it every year, you have to get rid of it.
I am not a very organized person. Although, I like a clean home because it helps me think and feel better. I can’t relax when the house is a mess.
We have a small kitchen. When we renovated our kitchen years ago, we took a couple of cabinets to open up the wall. The downside to that is now we don’t have enough space to store our food.
We have a pantry in the basement but it’s a pain to go up and down the steps every time I need to get something. I went through our cabinets and decided to change and move the stuff that we don’t use often in the basement. I can’t believe I stored the baking stuff in the cabinets that I don’t ever use.
I organized all the cabinets to make room for a pantry. It’s not a big cabinet but it’s pretty deep that I can store a lot of food. I also decided to organize our fridge because it’s always a mess.
