Warmer temperature is finally here and I couldn’t be happier. Outdoor living is something I look forward to every spring and summer.
I decided to open the pool on the weekend and the water was dark green. Uggh. I think I closed the pool too early and did not put enough shock in. Oh well. Lesson learned, lol.
It’s been getting hot here and my kids couldn’t wait to swim in the pool. However, the pool is not quite ready yet. The water turned blue but it’s still cloudy. I’m hoping we can go swimming in a couple of days.
One of my favorite California-based landscape design firms is Garden Studio Design. I love their style so much. My goal is to incorporate some succulents into our outdoor space.
Unfortunately, we live in zone 7, and most succulents don’t survive here in the winter. I found the Hens and Chicks at Lowe’s and love that they are cold-hardy. I have the smaller variety but I love the color and size of this one. Doesn’t it look cute?
I used neutral-colored throw pillows that I already have. These are not made for outdoors but we have a roof to protect them from getting too wet. They do get dirty but I can just throw them in the washing machine if needed.
In my opinion, an outdoor space will be complete without lighting. I bought this solar string light from Amazon and I love that it just turns on when it gets dark at night. It’s not very bright but I like that it gives a nice ambiance at night time.

Better Homes and Gardens Lilah Outdoor Furniture Review
I saw this Lilah Patio set (link below) from Walmart and I was in love. I love the boho coastal look and style. We already had an outdoor furniture set but it was dark and bulky.
Hubby agreed to buy it and I was so happy. The size is perfect for our small deck. I also like that it’s a lower profile so it’s not blocking the view. Our deck feels more spacious now than before.
Pros
- Low profile – perfect for not obstructing the view.
- Steel construction – the base is made of steel which looks sturdy.
- Easy to put together – the installation was straightforward.
Cons
- The cushion doesn’t seem to be of good quality.
- The cushion doesn’t have zippers so I can’t wash it if needed.
Overall, I am pleased with the Lilah Furniture Set and would recommend it to people who are looking for nice furniture on a budget.
