Hello, everyone. I’ve been busy decorating for Christmas. It took me about two days of gathering all the decor and decorating the tree. I’m telling you: I take Christmas decorating seriously. π
All of us have been recovering from colds this past couple weeks. I think we need to move to a place where there’s no winter, lol. I don’t like the cold. Wouldn’t you know it: Hubby doesn’t like the hot.
My theme is a bit different from last year’s. I wanted to try another color scheme. I love the classic red and gold. Red is one of my favorite Christmas colors because it feels so festive. However, as much as I might love to use it every year, this was a year for something new.
My sister and I went to Hobby Lobby to get inspired. She showed me a sage green pillow. I loved it and so I incorporated it into this year’s decor.
I bought blue ornaments from Walmart last year just after the holiday when everything is 50% off. The day-after-Christmas crowds are crazy so it pays to get there bright and early. My sister always tags along. We both love the deals.
My sister got me plaid sage down pillows from Homegoods for my birthday. I got the complementary sage ornaments from Hobby Lobby.
The vase and bowl are thrift store finds.
It took me a couple of hours to decorate the tree. After the ornaments were on, I felt like it still needed color. Hubby, aka Mr. Contrast, suggested to add a warm color because all blue felt “too cold.” I added gold and rose gold ornaments to accommodate. He was pleased.
I bought this flocked tree from Walmart last year for only $79. Buy here. It’s 6.5′ tall and it fits our living room. The only downside is the snow stuff comes off and leaves a mess. I made the faux fur garland from Dollar Tree dusters.
I added this buffalo plaid sign from Ross over the mantel. The other decor is from Walmart. I wanted to incorporate some boho decor so I made pom-pom garland out of cotton balls. Yes, you read that right! I don’t think you’d notice unless you looked closely. π
Adding the garland was tricky. I didn’t want to drill holes in the stone mantel so I cut the garland in pieces and laid it on both sides.
I hope this post inspires your Christmas decor. When do you start decorating for Christmas? Do you change your decor every year?

I love this theme and doing a theme is a great idea! I love the colors and the tree
Thank you so much! Theme is key to a beautiful and elegant looking Christmas tree π
Beautiful!! Gets me in the mood to decorate.
Hi, Jamie. Thank you very much π I know most people decorate after thanksgiving. I want to enjoy it longer so I decorate early.
I loooove everything. Farmhouse style is my fav. And I hear you on the winters. I used to live in the Midwest….but now in Southern Cali. And guess what, my husband doesnβt like it, lol!
Thank you, Megan. I can’t believe your husband doesn’t like California. We’ve been to San Diego, San Francisco and Palm Springs. CA is beautiful. I would love to live there. We live in Pa and it gets pretty cold in the winter.
I absolutely love this! This is beautiful. I love the blues and whites. I want to do so many christmas trees this year and you gave me some inspiration
Hi, Ashley. Thank you so much. You are so kind. I have two Christmas trees. I’d probably have more if I have more space, lol. I’m glad this post gave you some ideas and inspiration π
I don’t change the color every year but I love yours it looks beautiful and your mantle display is lovely.
Thank you! This is the first year that I did not use red to our main tree. I did add red ornaments to our tree in the dining room, though. I just love red so much π
This is gorgeous! Love the blue, reminds me of the blue tree my mom used to put up when we were small. Yours is much prettier lol.
Lol. Thank you very much. It’s funny because I did not like the blue at first but now I love it π
I love farmhouse decor and you nailed it with your amazing pics for Christmas this year. I’m really loving rose lately and these ornaments are so great I might have to consider switching things up around here too. I love your tree as well, adding that to my list haha! Great ideas can’t wait to see more of them!
Aw, thank you very much. I love this tree because it makes the ornaments pop. Thanks for stopping by π
I’ve been doing red and gold the past few years. I really want to switch it up this year. I love this tree! That sage color is really pretty.
Thank you very much. Same here. Go for it. It’s nice to change things up once in a while. Have a great thanksgiving.
I love blue and silver for my tree. I think it just looks so elegant and winter-like. I don’t have kids so I don’t feel the need to go the more traditional red and green.
Hi, Hollybee. I love that theme too. I have kids but I don’t feel like I need to go with traditional Christmas color. I like to change up the theme every year π
I love the sage and royal blue color combination! It is so unique and pretty. Your colors inspire me to go decorate!
Aw. Thank you, Jess. It’s a lot of work but I enjoyed doing it. I just love decorating for Christmas. I’d love to see your tree π
