We moved here about 6 years ago. It’s a fixer-upper ranch home built in 1956. The main reason why we bought this house is the backyard. It’s on a half-acre with a view of the creek.
We love to sit out back on our deck in the Summer and watch kayakers and tubers drift past on their merry way, enjoying the cool of the creek. This year was a bit of a fluke though. Due to a heat wave and regular downpour we didn’t get to sit out half as much as we usually do. My husband complained that it was the worst Summer he could remember.
We did a few renos when we moved in but there’s still lots to do. That’s the downside of owning an older home. There’s always something to fix. On the other hand, I do prefer older homes because they’ve got character that you don’t see in cookie cutters. We love our humble home.
