Are you looking for small bathroom inspiration? Do you like coastal, boho, neutral, and modern Mediterranean bathroom designs? In this post, I will be sharing our modern coastal master bathroom remodel.
If you’ve been following along, we updated our master’s bathroom two years ago on the cheap. We painted the tiles, installed peel and stick tile, and replaced the fixtures. We knew we’d have to renovate the bathroom down the road.
Well, friends, I am excited to tell you that we are finally remodeling the bathroom. Yay! We waited 9 years to tackle this bathroom project and I am so thrilled that hubby finally gave me that thumbs up!
We were having mold issues because of master’s bathroom doesn’t have ventilation. The other reason is, the painted tile in the shower is peeling and it looks terrible. The time has come to gut the entire bathroom and I am so excited.
I love design. I am so thrilled when hubby lets me design the entire bathroom. He designed (mostly) our main bathroom. So this girl is happy every time I get to design a room. One night, I asked him to sit down with me with my design and plans for the bathroom. I felt like I was Joanna Gaines at the moment. LOL
I am currently obsessed with modern boho coastal meets Mediterranean design. This style includes white, wood, black, and neutral colors like this one. We love our kitchen backsplash. I want a modern Mediterranean-inspired tile. Thankfully, I found a similar tile at Lowes and I fell in love with it.
We weren’t going to replace the flooring outside the shower to save money. Unfortunately, there aren’t many options out there for lock and click vinyl flooring. They are mostly vinyl wood planks. We have to pay 3x the cost for replacing the floor with tiles because they have to remove the old tile flooring.

We chose this patterned tile to give the space the modern Mediterranean vibe we are going for.
For the walls, we are going with hand-made white tile from Lowes. I love how it looks imperfect. As Leann Fords say, “perfectly imperfect.” The tile is made in Spain which I love.
Our master’s bathroom is very small. I would’ve loved to get rid of hubby’s small closet to make the bathroom bigger. Hubby is not very keen on the idea so we scratched that plan. I get too many ideas in my head because I am so passionate about design.
Hubby requested a wall-mounted sink. I was not happy with the idea because I already have the sink I wanted. I had to please my client (hubby) and change my plans for the sink. I don’t like the look of the wall-mounted sink because they look a lot like urinals, ha ha.
Our master’s bathroom doesn’t have any storage. I want the bathroom to have some storage because when the girls get older they are going to use the main bath more often. I need to have storage for my hair and make-up stuff.
For the bathroom vanity, we will be doing a floating wood vanity and shelf. I bought this rectangular vessel sink from Amazon paired with a vessel faucet. If you looking for good quality and affordable fixtures, I highly recommend Amazon over the big-box home improvement stores. However, be sure to read the reviews because not all the products have the same quality.
For the floating shelves, I got this birch butcher block countertop from Lowe’s.
We bought a kitchen faucet a couple of years ago from Home Depot. The faucet was very light and made of plastic. We replaced that faucet with the new one we got from Amazon. I was surprised by how heavy the faucet was and the best part is, it cost less than $100.
We got this black and nickel faucet from Amazon for less than $50. If you are looking for a good quality vessel faucet. I highly recommend this one. We got a new faucet because this one was too big for the sink. Check it out HERE.
We also got the shower from Amazon and the quality is amazing. I love the modern rainfall design in a matte black finish.
Let’s talk about light fixtures, shall we? When we moved to this house 9 years ago, we replaced all the lighting with cheap boob light. I wish I knew back then how important lighting was. It really makes the room. It’s like wearing a nice dress with dated or ugly earrings. It makes or breaks the outfit. The same goes for lighting. To me, lighting makes a huge impact on any space.
To complete the coastal meets Mediterranean vibe, I opted for this wicker pendant light. I am obsessed with wicker or rattan lights because they instantly make me feel like I’m on vacation. I told hubby that my goal for our house is to make it look like a retreat. And he loved the idea. I mean, who wouldn’t want that right?
We are going to change the light fixture in our bedroom as well to have a cohesive coastal feel.
I hope you love our coastal boho meets Mediterranean bathroom design as much as I do. I can’t wait to share our finished bathroom with you all. Talk to you soon!
