Dollar Tree Fall Pumpkin Centerpiece

Hi, everyone. Hope you’re doing well.

I’ve been itching to do DIY decor for fall. I had this Dollar Tree foam pumpkin from last year and it’s been sitting in the basement. I recently got the idea to turn it into a vase.

You could use a real pumpkin but why spend more on something that perishes. For $1 this one will last indefinitely!

My Mother-In-Law hosts Thanksgiving. Thank goodness because I’ve yet to master the cooking of such a large bird. She used to host all the holidays but we asked years ago if we could take Easter and Christmas from her to help her out. She happily agreed.

She kept New Year’s Day which is fortunate for my husband. She’s been making the local tradition (from the Pennsylvania Dutch) of pork and sauerkraut for as long as he can remember. That over mash is one of his favorites and not something he’s ready to give up.

I like dressing up our dining table to make it look extra special. My family is not accustomed to formal dining. We still use paper napkins instead of cloth. ๐Ÿ™‚

This pumpkin vase makes a good centerpiece for Thanksgiving or seasonal occasions.

For this project you’ll need:

  • Dollar Tree foam pumpkin
  • Razor
  • Paint or Spray Paint

Directions

Take the pumpkin and cut the top open making sure the hole is just big enough to hold a plastic cup.

Paint the pumpkin. I spray painted it with Krylon in Rose Gold.

I filled up the plastic up with water and clipped flowers from our backyard and then interleaved them with a few gourds.

What do you think? I hope you enjoy this DIY Dollar Tree pumpkin vase. What projects are you working on?

  1. I literally just saw those foam pumpkins at the Dollar Store the other day and thought to myself that I would never buy them because they look fake up close. But this is such a cute idea for them. And I actually already have that same rose gold spray paint. I might have to go back and buy some!

    1. Hi Jess, I say go for it ๐Ÿ™‚ I bought those pumpkins last year and I did not like it because they look fake. I originally painted it white but I had leftover metallic paint and I thought I’d give it a try. Rose gold is one of my favorite metallic colors for fall and Christmas. Please let me know how it turns out. I’d love to see the photos ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you, Erika. I love Dollar Tree! I shop there all the time:)
