Fall Home Tour 2019

Fall Decorating

Happy fall! Have you decorated for fall yet? I started decorating early in September. I was so ready to swap my summer decor to fall. Fall reminds me of cozy throws blankets and pumpkin/cinnamon candles – and of course apple pie!

This year, I was going to decorate our home a neutral fall theme but of course, that DID NOT happen! Ha ha. I went outside to pick some flowers and that really inspired me to add more color in the living room.

I plant zinnias every year and the colors reminds me of fall. I always think of mums and pumpkins for fall but zinnias are even prettier! I added some leaves and ornamental grass from my backyard and voila, a free bouquet of flowers. Isn’t it pretty?

Fall Decor

Our living room is my favorite part of the house. I started decorating the fireplace first because that’s what guest notices immediately right when they walk in.

I found this ornamental grass from Michaels and it’s one of my favorite fall decor. If you have ornamental grass in your backyard, cut some and put in in your favorite vase. I found this round mirror from the yard sale for free. The owner was getting rid of it so I took it home. I removed the decorative trim and I was going to paint it but I really like the natural wood look.

The vase and tray are Goodwill finds. I found these place mats at Hobby Lobby for $1.50 a piece and turned it into a pillow. All I did was rip the top seam open, put in filler and add tassels. That’s it! This is an easy and affordable DIY pillow if you are a pillow-addict like me ๐Ÿ™‚

We’ve had this couch for 15 years or so. Yes, that’s pretty old! Hubby bought it before we were married. It’s perfect for hiding drink spills and stains ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s too big for the room but we’ll wait until the kids are a little bit older before we replace it, maybe next year? LOL.

Fall dining room

Our dining room is by the far the easiest room to decorate. I like to keep our dining room simple. This vase I got from our trip to Magnolia Silos. It is one of my favorite vases I’ve owned.

To add more fall color, I swap the greenery to this mustard pom-pom flower. I honestly don’t know what this thing is called so let’s call it that for now. LOL.

Fall bedroom decor

We have dark furniture set in our master bedroom so I keep the rest of the accessories whites/pastels to make the room brighter. This quilt bedding set is from Target and one of our favorite bedding sets.

I made a few changes to the living room.

  2. As always… I love your decorating taste! It is simple yet not boring because of the splashes of color and textures you add! That feathery grass from Michaels is so neat. It’s something I wouldn’t have thought to pick out but it looks great in the room!
