Do you want to learn how to make crispy and chewy pizza at home? In this post, I will show you how to make your own pizza dough so you don’t have to order pizza again.
Pizza is one of the most popular foods in the world. I don’t know anybody that doesn’t like pizza. I mean, what’s not to like? There’s bread, sauce, cheese, and any toppings you can think of!
Pizza is a convenient and quick meal that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Even picky eaters like pizza ๐
About four years ago, hubby and I went to Italy for our 10th-year anniversary. We went to Florence, Italy, and tried authentic Italian pizza. I was so surprised that their pizza tasted very similar to our pizza here in the US.
I’ve been making pizza for years now. It took me a long time to finally perfect the pizza dough. I followed countless recipes but none of them turn out well.
I’ve used regular bleached and bread flour to make pizza dough. I’m always disappointed because it tasted like bread more than a pizza. It’s not as good compared to the Italian Pizza Shop.
I did not stop looking for a good pizza dough recipe. I know I had to figure out why our pizza doesn’t taste like the pizza shop. So I did some research and found out that I had to use a different type of flour.
My friend invited us over for a pizza. It was so good! She told me that she used high-gluten flour to make the dough. This kind of flour is only available at the Restaurant Store.
How do you make homemade pizza crispy?
The key to a good homemade pizza is using the right flour. Don’t use unbleached or bread flour because they are not meant to use for pizza. For best results, use extra fine Tipo (00) flour. This will make a crispy and chewy pizza similar to the Italian restaurant.
I was so happy when I found out that Walmart and our local grocery store (Weis) sell Anna Napoletana extra fine flour (Tipo 00). It’s made in Naples, Italy where pizza originated.
Extra fine flour is smooth and easy to work with, making it a perfect flour to use for making crispy crust pizza.
Anna flour is the only flour I’ve ever used to make pizza dough. The pizza always turns out crispy and not soggy. It tastes so good that my family now prefers my pizza over the restaurant’s pizza. We never buy pizza anymore when we go out to eat.
How many times should I let the dough rise?
Once. Cover the bowl with saran wrap and let it rise in the oven (170 degrees) and turn it off once the dough is in. Or let it sit on the countertop for 15 minutes or until the dough has doubled in size.
What temperature do you bake homemade pizza?
450 degrees Fahrenheit. In my experience, baking pizza in the oven at 450 degrees F for 10-20 minutes is a perfect temperature to get a crispy crust pizza.
My favorite thing about pizza is, it’s easy to make and it’s so versatile. You can customize it with any toppings you like. The possibilities are endless!
